“Originally received recommendation for Hemmert Painting from my roofer that was replacing our roof because of the May 2014 hail storm. Was only going to have Hemmert paint and stain hail-damaged portions of house and deck. After meeting with Barry and talking through his very reasonable estimate and process for doing the work, we decided to have him paint the entire 5,200 sq ft house. Barry put together the most detailed, yet complete bid I’ve ever received from a contractor. He painstakingly worked with us to ensure he used exactly the paint and stain color we wanted. As the painting work approached on the calendar, Barry was in contact with us repeatedly to lock in painting days… around very a uncertain weather period this Spring. Hemmert did absolutely great work, following our contract to the letter. Barry’s painting crew was first rate – cleaned up at the end of every day, were polite and respectful with my family and neighbors while on the job, cut no corners, and were extremely contentious. They scraped and sealed damaged wood siding (just as Barry said they would), sprayed (two coats) and back-brushed the larger surfaces, and brushed two coats on all trim. On the last day, Barry insisted upon a thorough walk-around inspection with me after final clean up. His entire crew was right there with him, ready to jump on anything left undone. I did not find a single missed spot or problem with the painting and not one paint or stain drop on concrete, window pains, anywhere! It went so well, I asked Barry for bid for painting my rental property – a 2,000 sq ft. Again, the bid, price, and timeline was right, and the result was exactly the same. I can’t say enough about how pleased we were with the process, price, and especially the result. I will not use anyone else for external painting now.”

“We had 3 estimates. All were very close in price, Barry’s fell in the middle. Once he starts a job he works until it is done which was important to us as we had a bad experience in the past with being juggled in with other jobs. He and his assistant Cody were diligent workers, even though the weather was very hot. They showed up every morning at 815 and worked through to 5 with a short lunch break. They did excellent work both prepping and painting the house. At the end of every day they cleaned up. They were thoughtful to try to keep the amount of time the windows were masked off short so we didn’t feel like we were living in a cave. Barry met all the terms of the contract and even met all the verbal items he said he would do. We had a clapboard with a hole that would have been extremely difficult to replace, he was able to do a patch instead with even the textured surface reproduced. One would never know it was patched. They were so non-intrusive, it was like having the house magically changing color. The paint looks fantastic. We had the house painted a deep yellow with a super white trim. The trim lines are so crisp and well painted it looks like a new house. We don’t see how our home could look any better. All in all, we feel they did an excellent job.

So, I found him very fair and accommodating and also very knowledgeable. I asked for advice and it was all very reasonable and proof was in the job done right. We learned not to depend on painters, in general, for such subjective decisions such as color choice but we were advised professionally and courteously all the while. Furthermore, they worked neatly. We inspected work closely but could not find faults such a splotches or paint spills around the house or surrounding the property. No speckled windows. The paint was coated nice and evenly and now there’s such dramatic curb appeal. The house is very warm and inviting and we’re very proud of how it looks. Many, many thanks for a job well done! He’s very busy during the warm season he says, but as colder weather comes please keep him in mind for interior work. He says he will help cover up furniture and finish work quickly, so this is something I will follow up down the road as I will definitely call him back for other jobs. Also he mentioned availabilty for commercial work too.”

“Barry came the day before the job was going to start to bring some of his tools. He arrived on time the next morning, taped up the house with his apprentice and begin scraping and preparing the surfaces. The second day, they came and painted the house then began the detailed work (trim, shutters, porch) The third day, they finished up the doors, garage door and other details. They don’t work weekends which I appreciate very much. Who wants to have people working on projects during your leisure time off from work. They returned on Monday and got right to work. We even had to wait for our shutters that we ordered to come in and he was very patient as he worked it all out in a timely manner. He even painted our extra shutter just in case we lose one with the strong winds we’d been having. I trusted him completely. So much so, I left them painting the doors while I had to run an errand. After the job was completed, he did a walk around with us and showed us all of his work and special attention to detail. We didn’t find anything to complain about. They packed up and left. It was like they were never there. Although, he is very honest, because he remembered there was a spot on the garage door he missed and called us to let us know. He hadn’t thought about it because when we did the walk around, the garage door was opened. He came early the very next morning and had asked us to just leave the paint outside so that he wouldn’t have to disturb us. He was quiet as a mouse and got the job done within minutes.
